20 years ago I started the Traveljunkies Adventure Travel Directory designed to support small businesses in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors.
Since then we’ve had some significant events that have changed the landscape for small businesses.

Most impactful was Covid 19 which hit the travel & tourism industry very hard and it’s estimated that nearly 50% of small businesses either went out of business, suspended trading or pivoted into something different.
Our own experience has shown this to have been nearer 60%.

More recently the biggest change has been more positive and continues to grow.

Whereas global warming is making life difficult for some, climate change is opening up opportunities for others and sustainable tourism is generating a lot of attention for both businesses and the travelling public.
